The Nasty North
In the genesis of hip hop, there stood two sub-cultures “The mighty Zulu nation and the “5% Nation”. 90% of the people involved in hip-hop were a part of one of the above groups, (Just Ice, Tribe Called Quest and The Native Tongues, Rakim, Father MC, KRS One, Brand Nubians, Big Daddy Kane, Poor Righteous Teachers, Wutang, AZ, and countless others) it was the sub-cultures that fueled this young energetic music. What caused the slow decline of NY’s stronghold over the music it had giving birth to? It was the dissipation of the two sub-cultures in the urban communities as New York entered the hustler’s mentality. The power of the game shifted, to the west coast and again the two sub-cultures that fueled the west side machine was the “Bloods and Crips”. You see the music is never stronger than the movements; it’s the movement that compels the music. The emerging market of the “Dirty South” was fueled by the “Black colleges” a sub-culture within itself.
One of the fatal mistakes that New York made during their rein was to embrace the entire state. What we have done as the result was tie together the entire “Up-State” New York. There’s 62 cities in the state of New York, this is our target market. All empires begin with a small band of people inspired for one common goal, then it spreads like a virus. We have contacts in all of the cities, our contacts/ point people will head the street teams that will pump the “Nasty North” brand, one of our main concentrations outside of the colleges will be the high-schools, why? Because they represent the future, the youth know no boundaries, their imaginations and ability to grasp concepts is “remarkable.” We have the ability to lock in all of the core DJ’s in the Nasty North.
Power is generated from concentration in small areas and the impact affects larger bodies of land, look at all the movements in the game, from “Cash Money” to “NWA” their sound, their look, the mentality was centralized before it was national. Take it a step further, and analyze all religions, they all begin the same way, from a single band of people in a particular area. We aim to lock in all of the local club owners, booking agents, college radio stations, and all of the upstate high schools. “Every town has a hero.” We will recruit the hero’s, the people’s champion to appear on our MIX-TAPE BRAND “Welcome 2 The Nasty” and they will be the opening acts of all the shows we do in their towns.
What ties a movement together? Movements are tied together by a single philosophy, a common purpose, one of the premier commonalities of the Up-State region is: they never felt like they were a part of the New York hip scene, and they want to make their mark in history… the Nasty North Emblem that’s on the “Dog tags” and the wristbands that will be worn by all the kids Up-State is what will tie them in on sight. It’s like the star and crescent of Islam, the Cross of the Christians. (you get the point). Further more we have the manpower and ability to expand the Nasty North to both New Jersey and Connecticut. (The Nasty is the entire Northern hemisphere) The Tri-state will serve as our springboard, forming the “The Black Triad”.
We are well aware of the current state of the music industry, the digital revolution has change the nature of the business forever, but what the mammoth couldn't see was how to embrace this change and thus suffered a fatal blow. However, we have embraced this change, in fact we welcome it. Peter F. Drucker, one of the greatest financial/business managers of the 20th century, once said "The best way to control the future is to create it" hence we are the neo-innovators of this age, merging the worlds of film, music, and the written word into an artistic mosaic that will revolutionize the entertainment world FOREVER.
“No movement can flourish without being autonomous”. We need all of the tools to produce the products and push the ideology. Our product focus points are the written word and the visual domain. We have a team of young brilliant, script and book writers, poets, play writes, dance choreographers, graphics artist, web designers, internet analysts, music, literary and film editors etc. We have at our disposal, books and scripts of all genres, sitcoms, episodic dramas, cartoons, and reality TV shows. We have to understand that the youth are the future generation of consumers, thus our movement is YOUTH BASED.
